- Milder UTI
- Both effective, but potassium citrate may be preferred (less calcium build up. Sodium citrate slightly more risk of calcium-based kidney stones).
- Antibiotic for more severe UTI – CONSULTATION – SAME DAY DELIVERY BEFORE 2pm
- Nitrofurantoin MR 100mg (MacroBID)
- ONE twice a day
- 3 days duration
- First choice: Fluconazole 150mg tablet (ONE tablet, ONE dose)
- Severe thrush: changes in vaginal skin such as: reddening (erythema), chafing (breaking) of vaginal skin, swelling of vaginal skin
- REPEAT Fluconazole tablet after 3 days
- Second choice: Clotrimazole 500mg pessary
- Vulval (outer vagina) symptoms: recommend Clotrimazole 1% or 2% cream – 2% normally used for thrush and 1% for other fungal infections
- Cream can be internal or external
- Internal cream comes with applicator – (10% w/w = 500mg Clotrimazole per 5g of cream. As a unit dose)
