Pink and yellow tablet meanings:
Pink tablet = main tablet – paracetamol, codeine and buclizine (sickness relief). Full treatment of migraine and can even stop an attack from developing if taken timely.
Yellow tablet = after tablet – paracetamol and codeine (no buclizine). For use when migraine symptoms persist after taking a pink tablet. Take yellow tablet at least 4 hours after a pink tablet. Further tablets can be taken in at least 4 hour intervals if symptoms still persist for up to 3 yellow doses.
Doses based on age
Minimum age: 12+
12-15 – Take one pink tablet and one yellow tablet at a time (maximum 1 pink tablet a day and 3 yellow tablets a day)
16+ – Take TWO pink tablets on first sign of attack and then take TWO yellow tablets at a time in 4 hourly intervals at least (for maximum 2 pink tablets a day and 6 yellow tablets a day)
Use for maximum 3 days only. If symptoms persist after this or get worse then stop using and speak to a doctor.

ONLY TAKE AFTER TAKING A DOSE OF PINK TABLET.
WHO IS MIGRALEVE SUITABLE FOR?
Do NOT take Migraleve if:
- Have not been diagnosed with migraine by a doctor
- Have taken any other painkillers within 4 hours
- Taking other medications with paracetamol within 4 hours
- Under 12
- Breathing difficulties including shallow breathing or sleep apnea
- Removal of tonsils or adenoids
- Digestive system obstruction
- Other digestive system issues
- Head injury or raised head pressure (headache behind eyes, vision changes, painful eyes)
- Breastfeeding
- If you know your body metabolises codeine very fast (can cause serious side effects even at normal doses)
- Severe liver impairment
CAUTION – speak to a doctor before using:
- Mild-moderate liver issues
- Kidney issues
- Increased eye pressure
- Difficulties peeing
- Prostate disease
- Fits, seizures or epilepsy
- Alcoholism
- Well-controlled asthma or other lung disease that is well-controlled (avoid in COPD)
- Have had a recent procedure
PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING
Pregnancy
- Avoid unless potential benefit outweighs risk (discuss with doctor)
- Risk of withdrawal symptoms and dependence in baby
- Can cause digestive system and breathing difficulties in mother during labour
Breastfeeding
- Avoid, present in milk
MIGRALEVE WITH OTHER MEDICINES:
Speak to a doctor if taking any other medication, especially:
- Other anti-sickness medicines
- Any medication used for mental health such as antidepressants within the last two weeks
- Other opioid medications (eg: tramadol, morphine)
- Muscle relaxants
- High cholesterol medications
- Blood thinners
- Anti-epilepsy drugs
- Antibiotics – especially flucloxacillin – low risk of life-threatening reaction metabolic acidosis (flucloxacillin and paracetamol)
- Other painkillers
OTHER WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS
Risk of addiction and dependence due to opioid codeine. Let doctor know if you have any history of substance abuse, alcohol abuse or other addiction. Can cause withdrawal symptoms such as agitation, anxiety, sweating, heart palpitations, sickness and diarrhoea.
