CRADLE CAP

Symptoms

  • Mainly on scalp, but can appear in other areas
    • Face
    • Nappy area
  • Scales:
    • Yellow-brown
    • Large
    • Greasy
  • Other areas may be red
  • Rash: flowy, little-no itching

Usually gets better by itself in most cases within 6-12 months [1]

Usually starts as an infant (below 1 year old)

Treatment

  • Loosen flaky scales – Wash scalp with baby shampoo + brush with soft brush
  • Can use oil to help loosen. Oil + gentle brush + shampoo
  • Dentinox Cradle Cap Shampoo

Avoid olive oil, peanut oil, soap, adult shampoos

Do not pick crusts due to risk of infection

See a doctor if:

  • No improvement within a few week of treatment
  • Cradle cap spread to whole body
  • Swelling around affected areas
  • Crusts bleed or leak fluid
