HEADLICE
Detection
- Fine tooth combing, ideally wet hair
- Note: nits are not the same as head lice
- Nits = empty lice eggshells
- Does not signify current lice infestation

Treatment

Counselling
- Do NOT use insecticides for prophylaxis – increases resistance
- Only treat those in household who are affected – treat all on same day to avoid reinfestation
- Products can stain and has strong smell
